Amec Offices, Yarm Road, Darlington: Morley Properties

The Amec Group, now the Wood Group, wanted a regional office building in the north of England. The AMEC offices are a redevelopment of their existing site near Darlington. The scheme comprises of two office buildings one designed to be more of a drop-in or hot seat work space providing 20,000 sq ft ( this was based upon the Regus office floor plate developed by SJRT) and a larger office suite of circa 60,000 sq ft to be the main headquarters. Both buildings were designed to be Carbon Neutral and to be BREEAM Outstanding standard. The Construction Costs were £6 million and £18 million. The design was developed from recycled fire proof wood cladding and  a timber structural frame.
