Kufra Airport, Libya
Kufra Airport was one of six airports which formed the introduction of the Shaw and Jagger team to working in Libya over thirteen years ago. The airports were part of a major infrastructure programme to improve communications across the country and into the more inaccessible regions deep into the Libyan Dessert and oil producing areas. The terminals ranged from 65,000 sq ft through to 150,000 sq ft. The designs were conceived as modern Islamic buildings with slatted stone and steel structures with wide sweeping canopies.
